Medieval Saber Fighting Style
Hello,

I recently purchased a Windlass Hungarian Saber. I was wondering what the proper style and technique for this type of weapon was? I've tried military saber drills, and while it works okay, the swords large pommel restricts it from some of the motions later sabers used. If there are any resources or manuals anyone could recommend me trying with this blade, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

If saber techniques don't suit this weapon then perhaps some of the German Messer material might work.
Medieval swords used in one hand would typically be used with a shield or a buckler - my suggestion would be to investigate techniques used with arming swords, but use one edge only (unless you have a sharpened short edge). Anything applicable to a falchion or a messer should be applicable to a sabre.
