14th century styled hunting knife by Craig Johnson
Last year I had an opportunity to do some trading with Craig Johnson of Arms & Armor. I got this sweet 14th century styled hunting knife based on the knives features in Livre de chasse (Book of the Hunt) commissioned by Gaston Phoebus, 11th count of Foix. It has a leather scabbard decoration appropriate for the era and depicting a hunting motif.

Being a minimalist-at-heart when it comes to 'using knives', I must say there's nothing about that knife that I don't just love. I wouldn't hesitate to use it as a hunting/skinning knife. The blade looks to be just the right size and have just enough 'belly' to it for nice sweeping slices while skinning. 100% function...that's what I'm talkin' about. ;) Let that blade darken though! It would only make it look that much more authentic, imho. ;) The scabbard is spot-on perfect. Love it! :D ....McM
Wonderful work. I actually have the dagger's twin, or else little brother. I forget. This sheath is really well done. There is a difference between the finish of dagger and sheath, but it isn't aggravating by any means.
That's absolutely lovely. It appears generously seasoned with awesome sauce. It's a feast for my eyes..Nom, nom, nom!
(Maybe I should go eat something).
