Albion Armorers is looking for good, dedicated craftspeople.

We need talented and dedicated craftspeople in our blade grinding and cutlery shop, who share the dream and passion of creating painstakingly accurate, fully-functional semi-custom swords. We will most likely be hiring 2-4 new craftspeople over the next year, so we thought we'd let everyine know now to help spread the word.

Long hours and low pay are a given, but it is an exciting place to be if your passion is the same as ours. Your knowledge and experience as a craftsperson will grow as well, working with some of the best in the sword production industry. Serious inquiries only, previous experience in metal finishing and fabrication, fine woodworking or jewelry work required.

It is my sincerest hope that Patrick Kelly would never come to work here at Albion! For what would all of the iniquitous traffic violators of his part of Kansas do if they thought that the all mighty Officer Kelly was no longer on duty? I believe Chaos would erupt and he would be recalled to quell said rebellion of the driving impaired! :D :lol: :lol: :lol: ;)

The snow and cold keep me away !

Four problems:
- a wedding coming up that I need to pay for;
- two kids still to get through college;
- winter wardrobe has long since either rotted away or somehow gotten too small
- And the last nail in the coffin is that I am such a klutz that Albion would have me out on my ear in minutes.

Well, if you need a Physical Therapist to help keep the staff in good working order, I would be happy to help out---at least until it gets cold! I've kinda gotten used to the occassional 70 degree day during the "winter" in Oklahoma! I'm not sure my rather meager handyman skills would be any help! Now, let's see...does it go "measure once and cut twice"? :lol:

It would figure! The Army still has a firm grasp on my ankle is not going to let go for about 2 1/2 years. At least it wasn't MY reenlistment I just left - THAT would have been really depressing. Even if I was free, I'm afraid that I suffer the same problem as most of the people who have already commented - insufficient experience. I'm a passable smith, but I have a lot more experience making square nails, than I do swords. Some day I'll post a picture of the large dagger I made. That will ensure that Albion never considers my resume (can anyone say "hammer marks"). :eek: :cry:

Still, my best to all of you who can take Howy up on his offer. I'm certain we'll all benfit in the end. And I will envy you for (at least) the next 2 1/2 years.

Any chance of starting a shop in the Philadelphia area? I would work there for free (after I finish with my FT job) for the ability to do something that I enjoy doing as a hobby.

Have you considered hiring a higher number of less experienced apprentices and training them the way you want them trained? The reason I say this is from some experience myself. Twenty five years ago I was an apprentice machinist. Got paid next to nothing for 18+ months, but by the end of month 6 there was no difference between my skills and the journeymen. Plus the people you train at Albion don't have any "baggage" on how to do something; and as Albion expands to bigger and better things you guys have a larger team already in place and ready for the next round of apprentice hiring...
