Suggestions for this langseax
I am thinking of getting this basic seax made by Manning Imperial as an inexpensive addition to my collection. I was wondering if any of the seax owners/experts might know of any economical options to make its appearance, particularly the handle a bit less bland? That is without doubling the price of the build.

Go for a different handle shape, wrap it, engrave ? Thanks for any suggestions.

Unless you want to try some inlay on the blade, you're options for an "upgrade" are limited to the handle. See if they will supply you with the blade by itself, and put your own handle on it.

Thanks for the link Harry I might do so,
From the small amount of evidence we have of hilts, they seem to have been quite bland. But also, much much long then the one they put on. The normal size for the hilt is about 23cm, some may even have been longer. One full tang variant shows that the hilt was divided in first a straight part starting at the blade side, then a waisted part. From earlier saxes, we know that many were covered in thin leather. I've attached some examples.

Thanks Jeroen. I like the look of the langseax in the diagram above too. Is there an original pic available for this and an idea of dimensions and weight?
