I've recently made inscription on my new blade. I used very difficult and old technic: inlay.
I decided to use copper for the best contrast.
We can find exaples of swords with silver, copper and steel inlay mostly.
I'm making a sword based on simple crusader sword which I found in Oakeshott's "Records..." (last photo).
Long and narrow blade (about 88cm), short grip. Perfect sword for horseman.
