In going through a passle of bookmarks, I came across one I found a few years back. I thought I'd share it here (many might not have it) and ask for submissions of other museum galleries to this thread.

Arms and Armor at the NY Met

There are twenty pages of royalty free images there. I don't think I've ever made it through all of them in one sitting. The root of that site is worth a view as well. There are many more galleries.

Very cool, thanks Glen! I did make it through (but then I tend to pass over the Eastern stuff, not that there is anything wrong with it, just not my interest, and focus on the Western goodies), but it was fun doing so, too!

I found it pretty funny though to see a thumbnail marked "German Double Barrel Pistol"... heck, the thing was owned by Charles V! Gack. Heck, if they want to de-access it as just some "old gun" though, I'll get in line! Have to sell the house though, I would imagine...

I go to the Met almost bimonthly but you already have pics from it. Every summer I'm usually in Italy but this summer I will be at Oxford ( Univ....woot.... ) and during my time there I'm bound to see a few armouries. Where is the Wallace collection? After my month in Oxford I will be backpacking North England with a friend from Newcastle.

In regards to Italy I would love the locations of a few armouries that aren't too far from Genova. I try to avoid going farther from home than Toscana, Emiglia, Provence, or the north Ligurian border.

I went back and dug up these photos from a stop at the Met last summer. I could only stay about 15 minutes :( , but what I saw!! :eek: I'll have to go back.

Nice pictures Scott,

The middle sword in the last two pictures is from the Alexandria collection. A gift from Cyprus king to the Mammeluke sultan.
I have the measurements somewhere. These are large swords of very thin and wide cross-section (diamond with a light touch of hollowgrinding).
