San Miguel Archangel type 14 Sword
San Miguel Archangel type 14sword by Forja Fontenla
Hello everyone,
This is one of the most classic medieval swords: Type XIV classification Oakeshott.
Forged from 5160 steel with a hardness of 55 RC, the blade reaches 78 centimeters long, 74 mm wide on the cross, 6 mm thick and 2.5 mm birth to two centimeters from the tip, which makes it very fast and agile in handling.
The balance point is at 14 cm from the cross, the percussion point is 50 cm from the cross. The total length of the sword is 95 cm and weight 1,300 grams
The scabbard is made of wood covered in leather with reproducing the original fittings.
The repoussé leather is a contemporary image to the sword and gives the name: San Miguel Archangel, in the tradition of time: protector and head of the armies of God.

Thank you for looking, questions, critic, etc all welcome!
(And sorry for my poor English)

That is a very impressive sword / scabbard combination. The Saint is a nice touch and rings true for the Catholic Knights of that era. Are they for sale?

Thanks for your comments
We like to linking stories with our swords
The repoussé in the scabbard is a contemporary image of Saint Michael the Archangel.
In the tradition of that medieval time, he was the protector and head of the armies of God.
St. Michel it invoked for protection, especially from lethal enemies. He is also the patron of soldiers
"And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon" (Revelation 12: 7)

The sword was for sale but is already sold.

This is the most gorgeous sword scabbard combo I've seen in a long time. Truly outstanding work. Bravo.
