Hi,
I'm trying to find as much information about type XVIIIc as possible and thought that maybe you guys could help me out. I've had a look at the XVIII entry in the features section as well as done a search in the forum for information but it would be nice to find some more information, especially data such as weight, length, PoB, etc., as well as images of fittings, for historic examples.
Thanks
Search for Alexandria, both real XVIIIc swords from Alexandria Arsenal and Albion Alexandria sword, you will find a lot of useful info.
Thanks. It seems they are sometimes labeld as type XVa, but I suppose the definition is somewhat fluid.
Do you (or anyone else) know if the XVIIIc illustration (by Peter Johnsson) in Albions Oakeshott typology is based on a historical example? I really like the fittings on it.

generally, XVa are narrower (maybe 50mm wide on average for a broad one) and straighter edges . while XVIIIc's should be much broader (70+mm isnt unheard of), and have a little more of an arc in the edge.
Here's one with dimensions, to start you off on the search:

Thanks. That one looks really nice and also more usable with one hand than the Alexandria one.
Hei Nils, this blade type is impressive, isn't it? I asked a similar question some years ago, here's the thread: http://myArmoury.com/talk/viewtopic.php?t=23664&highlight=
