Hi, I have been the proud owner of this basket broadsword for 20 years and I wear it every year to host "The Lament for Culloden". I
I bought it from Neilson in Leith in Edinburgh who dealt in vintage fireplaces who told me it was in a fireplace in Edinburgh they removed. I would be interested in any feedback as I have never seen another like it. as you will see it has an acorn and a thistle cast into the guards. I have never seen another like it.
kind regards Matthew

I think you are going to have to provide larger photos to get any answers.
Looks interesting, could you post bigger pictures?
Just from what can be seen, the basket looks like it could be from the 1800s, but the blade could well be earlier.
Is the blade signed in the fullers? What is the blade length?
