Again though I would like to know where this is... private collection? Museum? And place/context of discovery? Answers to these questions would be very helpful. It is worth noting that there are not many swords with this cross-section and size between the Celtic-Roman period and the Medieval, or afterwards. If this was found in the east though it could perhaps be some sort of kindjal or qama. The main indicator of its age is the extreme corrosion, though; even a 500-year-old blade would not necessarily be in such poor condition unless it was made out of low-grade steel and/or in a highly corrosive environment. |
