There were no people slashed in the video, no blood here, but you can clearly see the swords in their hands.
I have no idea what the motivation for this attack was and honestly don't care, the only thing that caught my attention were the swords, drawn and wielded in 2014.

You might not care, but it's part of a long running conflict which includes the assassination of Indira Ghandi. Effectively a separatist movement in a culture which requires men to carry a blade.

You can ignore the article and watch the imbedded video. The early part shows spears in use as well, in slashing instead of thrusting attacks.

To me it looks like it was knocked out of his hand intact. But I'm on a tablet, perhaps the resolution is better on a large PC screen.

The slashing use of a spear is probably because they don't want to actually kill anyone. It's a brawl, not a fight to death. I wonder how sharp these swords really are, or if they used the flat / blunt side. Some of the cutting motions looked like they could easily chop arms off.

The video seems to be some form of reenactment of an event that students of sikhism would understand. The Golden Temple is their holiest shrine, so no baptised Sikh would deliberately create a ruckus within its walls unless it was sanctionned.

A fair few wounded and over 50 arrests. Some sikh separatists seeking more independence and an autonomous home land seem to have got a bit out of hand and attacked the temple guards. Who started it is not known but having worked with sikhs many times over the years on various historical projectsI know they'll never back down from an engagement, even if they only have swords compared with firearms on the other side.

When it comes to fighting as well as demonstrating Sikhs in India will sometimes brandish swords. Some of them are willing to follow the paths of their ancestors known for their fighting skills.
