I am pleased to announce another scabbard making course and have one place left to make up a group of 3.
A sword really does need a scabbard to make it a complete item and this course will let you make a professional sword scabbard that fits your sword and you, perfectly.
We will start by making a scraper, using it to scrape out the two poplar slats for the core of the scabbard so that they perfectly fit your sword (which you bring).
You will then go on to bond the slats, shape them and stitch on the leather outer.
We will then go on to make a scabbard chape and harness the sword in either an early or late medeival style.
This course will be quite intense and a reasonable level of practical skill will be required as you will be working with wood, leather and metal in short order.
Cost: £390.00
Date: Saturday 26th April-27th April
It will be held at my workshops near Oxford in the UK
If you are interested, please email me at tod@todsstuff.co.uk
Having gone through the eating knife making course I can only recommend Tod's workshops.
Not only you get taught how to in details by one of the top craftsman out there, but you have access to all the tools of the trade, all materials provided, not to mention that you leave with the completed item (and Tod will make sure you get there)...for the price of said item if ordered from Tod. I think the added value is huge if you are up to the challenge, and provided you can make it to Oxfordshire.
One of these days, I'll come around for a crossbow course!

Thanks for the support Julien.
As he points out, the cost for the course is the same as that for a scabbard made by myself, so you will leave with a professionally made scabbard, made by you and the knowledge to make another………

I would so love to go to this. Unfortunately, there's this little matter of a very large body of water between me and Britain.

I don't have that problem since Tod's just up the road from me, but there is the minor matter that if any sharp tools are put in my hands, I tend to stab myself in the fingers sooner or later. Usually sooner. :(
I still have a place left for my scabbard making course this weekend if any are interested.
I will also be making a scabbard during this weekend and will post up a 'making of' thread on myArmoury.
As I will be making a scabbard, I can make it for your Albion and for this scabbard I will give a 30% reduction, making it around £280 or 350Euro or 460$.
Email me if either interested in the course or the scabbard.
