I've had a chance to handle most of the swords that Albion produces. While I hear a lot of talk about models like the Crecy and the Acre, I rarely hear anything about what I think may be the best handling sword in the Albion Mark Handmade line, the Agincourt type XVa. Of all the swords in the Albion Mark Line, it comes closest to feeling the way my 15th Century Civilian from Peter Johnsson does. It may be that this is a sword that has to be handled to be appreciated but I think everyone should know it is definitely the sleeper at Albion.

Funny, I've always found this one to be my favorite of the Albion Mark line. I wonder if I'm just the freak among the community. :)

It was my favorite, too, until the hollow-ground lineup was introduced. Now I'm conflicted.

I read somebody else's comment (on SFI, I think) that they thought the Stamford was the Albion Sleeper. :)

I really just don't like the gaurd on it, something different and I might just freak too.

Those XVas will surprise you . I was definately impressed by Arms and Armor's Black Prince and I never cared for its looks either. I've never got to handle this Albion model but one hopes it is just a matter of time.

These accutely pointed types from the high middle ages never appealed to me in the past. This changed when I was able to handle Albions Brescia, and do some matt cutting with it. I was very impressed by the handling and cutting ability of that sword (which should be obvious since I ordered one).

I made this graphic last year. It shows the Albion Agincort sword (with original guard) vs. the A&A Black Prince sword. As you can see, they're very different one one-another, despite being of the same general type.

The Agincourt XVa is one of my favorits as well. In fact it was my first purchase from Albion and I have been thrilled with it. It does indeed handel wonderfully and IMHO is a beautiful weapon.
