Some of you may recall the multi-bar Migration sword I was working on a while back that failed in the quench. Well all of a sudden I was free to do whatever I wanted with the longer portion of the blade and this is what I did. I basically just put life back into some iron type C fittings that I had abandoned from a previous project and came up with what is essentially a very short Viking period sword... with very subtle 'Dwarvish' inspiration. I attempted various approaches to making it more fantasy.. but nothing set right.. so I went with a very basic sword. I call it 'Shathur-Zirak' from Tolkien's Dwarvish language or 'Cloud-Spike'. It is named after Mount Cloudy-Head in Middle Earth. The runes are Tolkien's Dwarvish runes and say 'Roush-Made'. Anyway.. here it is!
The blade is 18" long and weighs just about 1 pound.

Good looking piece. I really haven't seen many type C hilts on the market; good to have a professional and pleasing representative.

Love the pommel. It's big and angular and means business, but isn't in-your-face or gaudy.

Collin.. that pommel is scary from a tactical perspective. I would HATE to get hit in the noggin with that thing.

David... Yeah it was a let-down for me as well.. that pattern would have been beautiful in the full length. But... I really think you are going to benefit from this experience. For one... my multi-bars get more consistent and nicer in terms of pattern with each one and a big TWO.. I just bought a stainless tube for salt pot heat treating. This will allow for a much higher quality heat treat which should also reflect in the pattern. Not to mention that for me (I hope) less time dealing with warps, etc. The other nice thing is that I had a large chunk of your hilt fittings done as the blade was coming together... so.. shouldn't be too much longer!
