You created the hamon and utsuri effect by partial hardening, correct? I am not familiar with this term. Is it the same as differential hardening or differential tempering? Also what carbon content did the bloomery steel have?

Just got my del tin great sword out. Haven't handled it in a couple of years and now comparing it with the pictures of this one..I'm sobbing! Min is shapeless lump by comparison. Must save up some more pennies....
Thank you.Carbon content I don´t know exactly,but about 0,7in harder and 0,4in softer parts.Hamon and utsuri are visualeffect from diferential hardening,hamon is border of martensite area and utsuri is probably area of bainite structure.
