Here is my turn-of-the-16th Mamluk Chichak. The last days of their Empire. It's a practice helmet, made extra heavy and tough for HMB sparring. 3mm mild steel, visor is 2mm. It weighs somewhere between 6kg and 7kg. For actual competitions I will use a lighter one (which I don't have yet... :) ), but stay with a Chichak, my all-time favourite style.
I had a Historical-style bar nasal made for authenticity (and practicing alone) when needed, but a covered face is wise for HMB fighting, so the visor/faceplate was made with this is mind. Mamluk Chichaks historically didn't have faceplates. I am considering a hidden bar-grille with a
maille aventail over it for the competition version.
It was made by the highly skilled Edward Shayhutdinov from Kazan in Tatarstan.
