I found this most resent update to be a bit less interesting than the previous one, but still quite good. Given my interests, it is going to be hard to beat, in my eyes, the Spotlight on Type XVI's, and reviews of three Type XVI swords. Despite that, I still have to rate this update as excelent because the information provided lives up to the same standard of quality. And, lets face it, the topic is not going to have universal appeal every time there is an update; instead of judging based on my own interests, I have to judge on basis of scholarly merit, and you guys did good once again.

Another good update. The country armies articles are good because they give an overview to those of us who aren't really into the deep historical research on our own. They're kind of hard to read though. The brescia review is excellent as always from P Kelly but I have one complaint........now I want one of these swords!!! I had thought that maybe it was too pointy for my preferences but now seeing those photos and reading the description of how it is used really makes it seem perfectly suited to what I want. I for one have to say thanks for putting all this time into this site to your whole site authors. i know you all have real lives and jobs and so its even extra appreciated. You seem to pick and choose the right things to publish and stay focused. after all you could be spending your time drawing cartoons instead of writing educational and informative articles...........well done!

Nathan, as always the site is superb. I really enjoy that you have the George Gush articles (or rather chapters) on national armies of the late Renaissance. I read the book many years ago and have since lost it, but its a great resource and what's more, I can tell someone "Here, read THIS!" without having to actually go photocopy a chapter in a book! Thanks!
