Hello all!
Like every September, the Fischer Auction house in Luzern, Switzerland has a large arms and armour auction (www.fischerauktionen.ch). This year will be especially exciting. I just got back from spending a few hours there, and I thought I'd share with you folks a few things.
First up: Fechtschwert!

Hilt Length - 27cm
Blade Length - 88cm (w/o schilt)
Blade Width - 1cm at the schilt then flaring out to 3cm at the tip
Schilt Length - 10cm (to center of cross)
Schilt Width - 10.5cm at the widest 6.5 at the narrowest
Cross Length - 24.5cm
COB-16cm from the cross (!)
Weight 1.672kg
My notes on the sword:
With the balance point so far out on this sword, it feels heavier than it really is.
The blade has a rounded, rectangular cross section that distal tapers to a flared point.
The blade shows signs of heavy use with dings all along the edges (more heavily concentrated at the middle) and it is no longer straight.
As you may be able to see in the pictures, there is a “Y” shaped deformity where the blade meets the schilt. I was informed by the curator that this was due to the blades construction. He said the mark shows where the steel blade meets the iron schilt. I am not sure how he has confirmed this, however.

This thing felt amazing in the hand. It took all my power not to swing it around the auction house. The long swedge was sharpened.

Look here for pictures from the auction: http://www.fischerauktionen.ch/auktion/katalog.aspx
If you have any questions about any of the items, feel free to ask. I'll do my best to answer them.
Stay tuned for more pictures. :)

Thank you for the wonderful pictures. I was interested in bidding on lot 1106 and was wondering if you saw that item and could tell me if the blade edge was corroded. I cannot tell from the pictures in the online catalog. I see in the description that the blade surface is corroded but was just wondering if the edge itself is jagged as a result of the corrosion.
Since I had never bid at Fischer's before, I sent them an e mail about arranging for phone bidding several days ago but didn't hear back from them. In contrast, I bid online or by phone at Czerny's, San Giorgio Aste, and Hermann Historica last year and those houses were very responsive to queries :\ .

As I looked around the website and online, I couldn't find anyway to bid on items. It's probably a good thing because I'd run that feder auction way up. ;)

Haven't used them myself but the absentee bidder form appears as part of the PDF catalog. http://www.fischerauktionen.ch/auktion/downloads.aspx
Too late now, it went for 2500 EUR. Lucky bastard! haha
