Baltimore Knife and Sword axe questions
Hello,
I was looking at a few of Baltimore Knife and Sword's axe offerings. From some of the pictures I have seen they seem to have round eyes and round axe hafts. Is this how they are made? I have asked them on facebook, but received no replies. Any information on them would be great. Looking at their Dane and Danish War axes. They don't have lugs around the eye like most Norse axes I have seen either.
Thanks,
Greg
From what I've seen, it looks like most are round...using a wedge in the top of the shaft and/or pinned into place. Not really period correct, but sturdy. They say they will custom build anything any way you want, though. McM
As Mark alluded to, as far as I know, BKS does a considerable amount of custom work. If you wanted the features to be more period correct I'm willing to bet they'd have no problem doing it for you.
I've sent emails to BKS, trying to tour their forge (only 25 miles from my house), tried to contact them on their web page where they claim to welcome visits, and have never gotten any reply. They don't make much that would interest someone who is looking for any sort of historical accuracy, and I'm getting the decided impression that they don't care about customers, potential or otherwise. Good luck trying to communicate with them.....
Greg. The gentlemen of BKS are very busy , and at the height of fair season and
, supporting the BOTN ,And all the custom order`s they do .
So if they havent got back to yet , dont give up on them. !!!!!!
As for axes they can make just about anything you can think of .

I have some swords from them I bought in 2001
We been fighting with them ever renn faie.
Sparring , and free fighting , flawlessly

Good sir BKS is worth it 10 Fold and differently worth getting ahold of.

Much respect

Hi Greg. I am sorry you feel neglected. Right now we are in the heart of our ren fair season and are working as hard as we can everyday to fill those orders. We currently don't have time for anyone to stop by during the week. John has scheduled some visits on the weekends. John also takes care of our customer service. You must be using an old email as I watch him respond to dozens of emails daily. Try him directly at irishdevil@comcast.net

As far as the axes go, the standard production axes mostly have round eyes made from pipe. We make a whole lot more then what is seen on our website. We can drift the eyes of any axe as requested and can add lugs to anything you want as well as choose the style of heat treat on your axe.

Again, please don't let the fact that we have a full production line made in house confuse you. If you can draw it we can make it. We have a full custom shop capable of just about anything.
Not to seem too obtuse Matt but the site you link in your signature doesn't share irishdevil@comcast.net and as far as I know, the email is not published on your facebook. Maybe it is a matter of actually broadcasting and updating information for the frustrated.

Best :D

Glen
Matt my attempts to visit your forge in my old stomping grounds aren't that current...... I first used the link on your website to inquire more than three years ago, and a few times periodically since. I guess by this time I've lost some interest..... I still wouldn't mind having a look, but I have to say I'm not as keen as I once was.
