Well I got in contact with an Indian maille maker on both Deviant art and Facebook. He said he was making maille with a similar quality to Erik Schmid's maille, he got back with me on some photos of it and here they are. I notice they got the overlap correct it's all wedge riveted but it looks a bit round probably because they used a riveting tool that wasnt oval shape to rivet the ring. Needless to say I am quite impressed by this, it looks close to the Erik Schmid stuff I've seen. Not sure who got them to make this but maille being one of my main obsessions it's nice to share this new stuff with everyone. Not sure how much it is going to run for but I like it a lot more than the regular maille I am used to seeing, especially with the new overlap, the rings dont look like pop tabs anymore.

To me, the rivets seem a little proud. That is sure to tear up your undergarment.
Thats actually the OUTSIDE of the rivets, the inside of wedge riveted maille is normally smooth and thats the side you have your garments on. Historical dome riveted was the same way as well.

Do you have a photo of the reverse side of the maille?
The round wire rings are an improvement over most of the modern Indian round mail I have seen. The wedge rivets they're using look too broad in the base, and too long. The "fish head" cut ends look more common than the current crop with square-cut ends. If they would use a smaller drift and smaller wire for the round rivets, it might get better. If they would get the size down to 9mm outside diameter, alternate with solid rings, and learn to tailor things a bit it would be much improved for earlier portrayals.
I dont have any pictures of the backside yet but I think I could ask. I think those rivets in the 8MM round wedge riveted ones are different rivets they're using than whats in the actual ring. The top one is wedge riveted round ring, none of these are dome riveted, it only looks round because it's peened that way and historical wedge riveted maille can have round looking peens, it's all due to the riveting tool flattening the "peak" of the rivet. Personally I prefer the 8MM one the most but I'd prefer it with solid links, problem is maille that looks historical like this with flat washers wont be consistent, I'm not too sure on how historical solid links looked, other than them being thicker than washers in the examples I've seen.
Erik just contacted me, he said this maille is made by him for another company and told me not to be fooled by this stuff. Thankfully he told me before any of us made purchases but I am rather disappointed, just when I thought there was going to be better maille there isnt. Turns out these people have been passing off this stuff as their own maille, and it actually is pics of Erik's Maille. Glad he told me though cause now I know I wont be getting scammed now.
