I was invited by a Lung Chuan Forge to test their new katana to extreme. So I tried it on cutting pork arms, performing lateral strikes on opponent's weapon, cutting metallic container of volatile adhesive and receiving Chinese style "weapon destructing" strikes from a blunt hanwei rapier.
Nice video and interesting tests. I think you overdid the cutting but that is a totally different story.
I don't think that your hitting the blade with a blunt rapier was very accurate in emulating actual combat.
I'm not sure that you can draw any valid conclusion at all from this - apart that the blade can be damaged by improper handling.
Thank you for sharing (and for choosing a music that doesn't make my speakers wander and jump about the desktop).
