A while ago I bought a really nice handrolled 17th-century pipe from Heather Coleman at http://www.dawnmist.demon.co.uk/pipesale.htm She seems to have sold out on most of her stock, but you can always contact her for a custom order I guess. She seems to be making pipes in all sorts of different styles, most of which are pretty much impossible to find anywhere else.
Hi Bart,
thank you, i have been lucky and i have found one in stock just of the pattern that i was looking for!
her work looks very accurate and period and pretty cheap, do you smoke yours?

I used to, but I quit smoking al forms of tobacco over a year ago, except when mixed with...other...smokeables. I remember it being a pretty good smoke, especially for it's very small size; almost no bite!
On a slight side note, a long time ago I was on an archaeological dig in Monmouthshire, UK, excavating a Roman fort. On the way down to the Roman level, we found many broken off pieces of clay pipe stem from the 18th century. I believe it was the practice to buy a long-stemmed clay pipe, which would gradually get shorter as the stem end would keep breaking off.
