Germanic Hairstyls
Hello,

I was reading Peter Heather's Empires and Barbarians and I have a question about the hairstyles of the old Germans:

"Hairstyles were used by some Germanic groups to express political affiliations, and also to express status. The most famous example is the so called Suebic knot described by Tacitus..."

So I have looked up the Suebic knot, but as I feel from the text there must have been more.
I would be interested in if you could post more examples of hairstyles from the Germanic groups?

Thanks,

Dávid
as i`m not really interested in events of the migration period (too barbaric for my civilized mind ;) ) i dont know specific things about hairstyles of the time, but google gives me this for the suebian knot.

The Franks seem to have preferred a knot on top of the head, or in case of their kings, long and flowing.

The Hunnish style has been described as short on top and long in the back, like a mullet.
