I contacted the Higgins Armory Curator to arrange a visit to view several swords. I expressed interest in 13-14c blades and until I can get a list of exactly what they have in this period I was directed to their virtual exhibition of 15c and later weapons. I provide a link to to this exhibit, as well as to the swords that they have that fall in this time period. They apparently also have several 8-9c swords which I might also decide to view depending on what else is available.

The most striking part is that anyone that has been to the actual museum has not been overwhelmed by the overabundance of swords. Apparently they have quite a few stashed in the basement.

If any of the swords that you can see on the link are of special interest please let me know so that I can make a rational decision of what I'd like to view .

Did anyone check out some of the other stuff from the Higgins listed? The study called "Modeling the Joust" is pretty darned cool, I must admit! Lloyd, you out there? Might be something to look at to see if the author is off base or not...

Glad to see you were able to get something arranged. We enjoyed our visit up there and found them very easy to work with and quite accomodating. they have drawers and drawers full of sword blades and such in the basement rooms. pretty neat stuff. They even have some pattern welded seaxs and such down there! I still have yet to finish editing all the pics we took. Eventually I'll get them all on cd and forward to Nathan for the site here.
