Okay, it seemed like a good day to do this, so I loaded up my kit and went down to the ruins by the river to take a few pics of it with Thorkil's Norman Phrygian helmet added. I still have to get a proper hauberk from Thorki'/s buddy one day so for now my heavy black butted mail will have to do. I need some better pants too. But for now they will have to do I guess.

That looks GREAT! I wish I had a kit that looked half as good as yours. Heck, I wish I had a kit, period.
The helm fits rather seamlessly with your kit! Bravo! Looks great Jeff! Still drooling over that gorgeous helm!
That is awesome. I love the surcoat.
It looks brilliant! What exactly is the sircoat made of?
Fantastic kit. It's a fantastic display of detail and aesthetic coordination.
The helm goes well with the beard.

Yeah, for some odd reason I like the beard. ;) ( Just look at my Avatar pic ..... :p   ).
Oh, and as others have said the whole kit really looks great and I also like the shield and heraldry on it and the surcoat. :D
seriously
YOU LOOK LIKE A BEAST!
:D
that kit says, 'don't mess with that man' while also being very, majestic

Amazing kit, and beautiful helmet!!
all in all its a lovely kit and that helm is stunning, that brass, decorated cross gave the helm just that bit of extra bling that makes it perfect.
That's a beautiful helmet, love the brass work.
I have seen all the kind comments made on my kit in it's present form and I would like to thank each of you for your generosity. Believe me, I have great respect for your own works as well, such as Brian's outstanding scabbard artwork, along with the knowledge of ancient days, although I don't often comment. I noticed there were a few questions that I have neglected to answer properly. So I'll do a brief commentary here, if you'll bear with me.
The surcoat was custom made to my measurements by Pendragon Costumes. It is a soft garment leather with a sturdy cloth liner inside. Many little details were added by them without my asking. I highly recommend their work, and they will customize anything as you wish.
The lion on the chest was made for me by a Heraldry company in England. They sent it to me sewn onto a black felt material. I cut it out CAREFULLY and hand sewed it onto the surcoat myself.Scary and tedious.
The Coat of Arms is the RAINES name, on my father's side. Latin motto and all. The lions and chevron are supposed to be silver, but, since metallic paints were not available back then, they always substituted white, as I have for accuracies sake.
The beard was the cheapest item of all. Thorkill built the helm around it for me. ;)
Thanks again to you all. I consider it praise from Caesar.
