Looking for an illustrator for a sword related novel
Im looking for an illustrator for a fantasy novel based on swords withbmagic properties. The illustrator could be from any country but he or she should have a taste for the āesthetics of european middle age and viking sagas as well.

I would like the cover to be a mix of realism, heroism and fantasy.

I would avoid anybody with a cartooni-ish style, though, while I would consider more favourably a style based on the aesthetics of the thirties to fifties, but updated to more modern tastes.

Regards
i'm a rather good draftsman, i draw a comic book on the side - though it's been a lot of years since i attempted paint. my black and white work is good. almost everything i do is trended to middle ages themes.

when i think about fantasy book covers - Boris Vallajo and his wife julia Bell - they probably produce every high end fantasy cover you see. Boris' work also has a very 60 - 70's look and feel to it.

Louis Royo - his work is very modern sexy and bit risque does great airbrushing and watercolor work.

Johanthan Earl Bowser - his work is in oil and is myth related. his early work was wonderful, but lately it's a little lifeless in his subject matter. every chick is nearly the same painted in the same profile.

there's four current artist that i know of that work in fantasy related material - myself i'd give it a stab depending on what you wanted.
If you would like, I can send you a few pieces of my work, and also have a few illustrator friends.
(That sounds horribly pretentious, you have no idea who I am, nor have you ever seen any of my work. I can be a stickler for detail or specific instructions)

Are you looking for a black and white, modern-ish look, more of a 19th-20th century romantic style, or a rougher, wood-esque series of illustrations (kind of Da Vinci's model sketches feel)? Does the medium of the image matter to you, so long as it is digitized in the end?

THank you Kai for your little brainstorming. In effect, rather than putting a limit to the creativity of the artist, I would like to make clear what are the goal of the illustration. The image must convey the idea of a novel centered on the conflict between good and evil, which are represented respectively by a guild of smiths versus a guild of architects that reach for tyrannical, satanic power through black magic.

It is a metaphor for tyrannies emerging out of apparently scientific social ideas ... While smiths represent the forces of commons sense and hard work.

There are monsters etc but I will anticipate only privately every detail on the plot.

Expect a pm with my email.
Hello,
I am interested in the idea of illustrating for a sword related novel. I am currently going to college for a Fine Arts degree. I work in oil paints, pencil, charcoal, chalk pastels, ink, etc. I love to work in realism. If you want I can send you some samples of my artwork.
