Hi all.
i'm planning to make a reproduction of this sword.(see picture)
So i'm looking for some better pictures.
Hope you guys can help me.

Beautiful! That's very similar to the XVIIIb in the Bayerisches, that the Munich is based on. A bit less fancy, perhaps. I hope someone else has more pictures. Can't wait to see the blade. :)
This sword is kept in the musee de l'armee in Paris.
Unfortunately I took only hilt shots, because I was drawned to the leather work and composition of the grip.
Cheers,
J

I found one, thanks to the intel provided by Julien:

Not a close up, but the trade off is seeing the other magnificent swords in the case next to it. BTW, those are excellent hilt shots, Julien. What a gorgeous weapon. Thanks for posting them.

What a wonderfully preserved grip! Do you plan to have it done with all it's detailing? A gorgeous piece. I wish you luck.

Sam, are you looking at the fifth image down the page, fifth sword from right? I don't think that is the same sword. Similar grip shape and overall profile, but the cross is different - am I seeing this right?
Anyhow, I'm glad you posted that link - beautiful stuff in all those pictures. Gotta get back to Paris...

You're right. I posted this on my computer at work. Looked different on that screen. Neither cross nor pommel match, and it looks like the raised spiral on the grip is replaced by an X. Good catch.
Oh well, at least there were other pretty things to see. The search continues.
I think I got it...
Thanks to Manouchehr! His photo - rich thread is here:

This is kind of exciting... two very similar blades, similar hilt configurations... wonder if we've got a regional style here?
I haven't found anything to rival Julien's detail shots of the hilt, and I haven't found anything on stats yet. I'll post them if I come across anything.

I love that! Lovelovelove. What a beautiful weapon, with what seem (to me) like perfect dimensions. I think I prefer the longer XVIIIb hilt on a slightly shorter blade. If Albion doesn't make a Museum Line out of that, I may just have to sell some stuff and go knocking on Peter Johnsson's door one of these days.
Speaking of dimensions, does anyone know them?
Thanks for posting that picture! :D

thank's to all for the reply's.
it will be a sword inspired by this one as it will have a shorter grip.
the provided blade has a tang that is to short.
it will be at normal bastard sword length maybe a bit longer.

Hi Ben,
Do keep us posted on that project, if you would! While part of the attraction of this sword, for me, is the extreme proportions, I would love to see your interpretation.
For what it is worth, the hilt- to-blade ratio looks to be about 1 : 2.125, and based on neighboring items the blade might be somewhere between 30" - 36". Maybe that gives you more options with your donor blade?
Best wishes,
Eric
