So this showed up in the mail yesterday...
I haven't taken any pics of my own (yet) but here are ones from Jake's site. It's the first sword featured the "scandinavian bastard." It's a big beast but so far handles pretty well. I haven't got to play with it much yet but believe me I will :)

All I can say is.......WOW.......Congrats Russ.....and yes more pics,please.

Congrats Russ!
(I'm assuming this is your sword and not a customer's)

Jake's work really intrigues me. That "Hildisvini" scramasaex keeps tempting me!
Very nice Russ.

I have Jake working on a comission for myself as well.

It's gonna be a "big un" as well...
Absolutly stunning. Your a lucky man.
I really like this sword, but carve grip doesn't really do it for me. It's impressive, certainly, but I just don't care for it. The pommel, though, I love.

Hey Patrick,

Yes I should have specified. This one is mine, my first fully custom sword. I'm trying to decide how to duplicate Jake's carving work for the scabbard. It should be quite the challenge.
Congrats Russ,
Very cool,
Some very nice stuff pictured on Jakes site,

To be honest I wasn't completely sold on it either. It's if not completely ahistorical at least certainly atypical. However Jake wanted to do it in a bad way and I know how it is when someone doesn't let you finish the job that you think you should finish on a piece of work. Plus I can't help thinking that doing a scabbard to match that carving will be a fun challenge.

Expect a full report maybe even a review soon!

Excellent! Congrats once again. There's nothing like that first one.
