I want to thank this site and everyone who maintains it. From this site, I learned about the wonderful book "Techniques Of Medieval Armour Reproduction: The 14th Century (Medieval & Renaissance)" by Brian Price. It came in the mail yesterday. I have made three seaxes in the past two years, but I really wanted to explore making helmets, bucklers and eventually branch into making pieces for the torso and limbs. This book is so good because it tells me the tools I need, the basics of creating patterns, how to shape the steel and emboss it.

I know many of you already know about this book, but I want to recommend it to anyone interested in creating reproductions or understanding the processes used in creating armour. The pictures are great. There are wonderful comparisons between original pieces and reproductions.

I would also suggest taking a look at Doug Strong's site http://talbotsfineaccessories.com/ for patterns & pamphlets. Also look at http://armourarchive.org/ for more armour useful info.

Note: Both theses sites have a strong SCA flavor which is also true of Price's book.
