A while back I came across some hilt parts on eBay that were cast from an original 18th century hunting sword. The price was good, and I had wanted to add a hunting sword to my collection for some time, so I bought them. The quality of the castings was fair considering the original pieces probably exhibited some wear. I completed the hilt with a black horn grip and mounted it on a hanger blade cut down to 21". The overall length is 25 3/4".
While the end result isn't on par with the better pieces in my collection, it fills a niche and is a fair representation of and 18th century hunting sword.

That looks pretty good, Chris! Considering you pieced it together yourself, it's really quite impressive. Very nice.
Nicely done - like the horn grip! tr
Well done Chris, very nice work but I think your being a bit hard on yourself (or perhaps its modesty) by saying that its not on par with the rest of your collection. I think this is a fine looking piece, that anyone here would be proud to own. Anyway, again, great work Chris.
