This is the first Albion I have ever bought, but alas its not for me. This sword was bought as a gift for my Grandfather, David Ritter. I found this sword to be worthy of carrying our family name, and I felt this would be a fitting sword to give to my grandfather. This will be his first sword, and I will give it to him this weekend which is his 70th birthday.

Yep, she's certainly a beauty, David! Definitely a sword with which to commemorate a life of great deeds. :)
Great looking sword David! Is that the green leather grip? It looks great with the blued furniture!
Yep Green is my grandfathers favorite color, and he has always had this thing about how he likes blued steel (handguns) so i figured the two were a good symbolic combination
You know, that's a really good looking sword that I kind of overlooked.
It's also a wonderful present to your grandfather, and I'm not saying that just as a sword fanatic.

Thanks Bill!
Most of the pictures Albion posts of their swords are the "regular" hilt setup with black grip, One of few of their swords they have colored grips, but you just really have to sit there and picture them different ways to see the neat hilt setups.

The gift was given today!!!
I explained about the sword, then pulled it out and handed it to him.
It was just after we had been discussing cutting, and I had shown him the DVD of my cutting party, so we were in a sword talking mood anyway.
My grandmother and mother and aunt were in the room as well.
So as he was inspecting the sword "smoking it over"... I simply said "Happy birthday paw...."
The entire way he held the sword changed and i saw a shocked look on his face, and he just smiled. A rare expression to get from Mr. Ritter..........
Needless to say he really liked the sword and said "well..... I've never had a sword before...." lol
well........ now he does! and on his 70th birthday!

That's great, David. I hope your grandfather enjoys his new sword. It's really cool when you can share your hobby with those you love.
That's awesome; thanks for sharing David! :D
Excellent David!
Excellent sword, excellent photo of two very happy people, and an excellent way to honor a mentor.
BTW, The is a strong resemblance between you and him , have you ever seen any pics of your Grandfather when he was your age?
