Hi

I have this scabbard available for an Albion Mercenary.

The scabbard is made from a poplar core covered in vegtan leather and dyed red with black lashed straps. The straps are finished in brass buckles and buckle plates and the straps and the belt harness are all embossed with a very typical medieval cross hatched pattern. The chape is steel with a writhen finial.

The cost for the scabbard and harness is £280, $470 or 350 Euro, shipping to UK is £22, Europe is £30/38 Euro and Rest of the world is £40/$66

Beautiful! Any photo of scabbard being worn, so we could see the suspension arrangement? Purely for curiosity reasons, it has no connection of me working on a 15th century scabbard and belt project whatsoever. :D

I presume that scabbard would also work for the Albion Castellan and Constable. Since they use a different guard, a type 11, the fit might not be as good at the throat.

I have attached a couple of pics showing the suspension. Usually the two rear suspension straps would go to a single point and be of a fixed length to suit the owner. As I cannot fit the scabbard to person in this case I must make the straps adjustable so they are on buckles and seperate fittings. The main belt passes through it own buckle over the belly centre and carries on through to pick up the buckle behind the sword grip - this part is conventional.

I hope this is clear but please let me know if you would like further info.

Yes that is correct, the scabbard will fit these but as you say the guard is different, but I can make scabbard throats to suit the other swords also.

Seems there are a lot of scabbards popping up the last few days, so a good time to chime in on this one.

I am the happy owner of this fabulous scabbard, and I have to say it is quite an exceptional one! It became available here, and so of course was a 'swordless' scabbard. I figured I might have to do a little work to allow for a prefect fit of my Mercenary... but I was wrong! The fit was fantastic! I eventually added a little wool inside at the tip to reduce the almost non-existent rattle, but this was not even really necessary.

The details on the scabbard are quite nice as well. Although it is not highly decorated, there is an austere beauty and high attention to detail present. One of my favorite aspects - and I hope to show pictures of this soon - are the small stars stamped on the back of each brass chape, a place one would never see them, but that add a little extra to the whole package. The chape at the end of the belt has Tod's renowned '4-quadrant O' trademark stamped on it, too, which I was thrilled to find.

Construction of the scabbard appears to be excellent, with sound wood, good leather, and well-done metal fittings. The only issue, if one can call it that, is that the chape was off when the package arrived. Despite fairly heavy-duty cardboard and a slat of wood between the two scabbards, the package had taken somewhat of a beating en route, and I believe this was to blame. Regardless of this, it was a very easy fix, and after a quick but proper glue job, it was good to go!. The scabbard has held up to the test so far as well, through rain, snow, and freezing temperatures quite nicely!

Overall, I am incredibly pleased with this scabbard by Tod's Stuff. It is a great example of a scabbard of the time period to go along with the Mercenary, and although as was mentioned the suspension isn't 100% accurate, the extra buckles allow for some variation of size depending on what garments are being worn, which I prefer. Phew, that was longer than expected, but Tod's work deserves it!

Not having an Albion sword that would fit this scabbard, it wasn't until just now that I really looked at the price-point for this one. It looks to be quite a value! Very nice. Congrats on adding the whole kit to your collection.
