How should I care for a brass wire-rope grip?
I have a beautiful hanger ElJay Erickson made for me several years ago. It has a ray skin grip that is bound in twisted brass rope with turks head knots. The brass wire has darkened considerably with age, which I am not altogether concerned about, though it did stand out a bit more when it was shinier. However, now the brass is starting to turn green in the crevices of the wire rope. I would like to know if there is a way from me to clean the wire and/or prevent this from happening. A major concern to me is not doing anything that would damage the ray skin grip or alter its color of finish. Any suggestions?
Chris
