the only helmet they are forgetting before the first one is the boar tusk made helmet for the mycenae
You shouldn't post copyrighted work without accreditation. This illustration was done by Peter Connnolly. Greece and Rome at War. pp. 60-61.
There are plenty of helmets before these but they are outside the scope of the book. It is a great illustration though.

Yea i have taken this book out at my local library. Other than that i found this picture on a website that also posted this picture so there was no way i could contact the author to ask him if i could post it. One question just curious how many helmets were there before these?
These helms seem to be all variants and evolutions of one basic type or very closely related types but there where some other types coexisting the same periods.
Some look like a simple conical helm with a narrow rim and another type I remember is like some form of kettle hat but somewhat strange with the way it was raised and left with folds.

Here is another " Athenian " that seems inspired by a Phrygian cap:

You usually don't need permission when posting a small portion of someone's work, but you do need to give credit.

There are some early Greek helmets here. Ignore the illustrations - most are speculative - but the archaeological evidence is good.
