New work, Type XIV
I was asked if I could combine the blade of the following, http://www.myArmoury.com/images/features/pic_spotxiv03.jpg -- with the fittings on, http://www.myArmoury.com/images/features/pic_spotx08.jpg -- It took a few tries with regrinding the blade to get everything to balance right and still be sturdy enough. But the result was well worth the work! The blade is large for a single handed sword but it doesn't feel it.

The final stats. on the sword:
Overall weight: 2lb. 11oz.
Point of Balance: 4.25" forward of guard
Point of Percussion: 22" forward of guard
Blade Length: 32.5"
Blade Width: 2.5"
Length Overall: 39"

The owner just got it today and is very very pleased :)

That's really interesting! I like it!
Looks very fine, must look great in motion too.
WoW! As always, your work is fantastic Michael! This piece is really nice. I'm sure whoever owns it is happy as can be!
Very nice work and the pommel reminds me of my RavenWolf pommel.

I do like huge swords a great deal. ;)
Very nice indeed! Would be great to see it handled, so as to get a more concrete feel of its size.
That looks great Michael. I am sure the sword handles superbly based on the handling of my XIIIb. I hope that the owner posts their thoughts on the handling of the blade. Keep up the great work and I cannot wait until I can afford another piece from you.

Regards,
Scott
This sword is my baby, her name is 'Ellenthrist'. I've always been very keen on wide blades and acute points, this sword moves very well, indeed, with power and agility, I never feel the true weight of the weapon and point control is effortless, even though this type is still predominantly a cutting sword she is a wolf in the foyne.
The grip is absolutely perfect I've not experienced any cramping in my hand even during long drills or cutting practices. The leather wrap has by now darkened some but is still very handsome and the fittings are tight as a drum head. This is by far the best sword I ever owned and I've owned many, this is also the sword that has me addicted to Micheals work, another of which, I'm sure he will be unveiling soon that will be Ellenthrists' big sister.

As far as the aescetics go I really enjoy the fantasy norse concepts and mixing it up with the later somewhat more versatile blade types, it makes for a unique, utterly weildable weapon that makes my collection more individualistic saying more about who *I* am.

I realize I chimed in late on this one but I am just as proud of this sword now as the day she arrived. Micheal does excellent work and I cant say enough good things about working with him.
That grip treatment is very attractive.

A nice acquisition.
Outstanding, that is a beauty!
Nice work, I like it. Keep up the brilliant work Mike!
I love the combination of the blade and fittings! And the size. I realized every sword collector has a smith who can produce a type of sword that collector isn't particularly interested in but he will love it because there is something in the style of work of that smith that just connects with the collector. And I think you are such a smith for me. The sad thing is that I really don't know when could I expect to have enough money to order something from you... :(
