I am looking for a source of anglo-saxon belt buckles, primarily from the 7th Cent.
Does anybody have some suggestions where I might be able to buy them.
I am particularly looking for replicas of the Sutton Hoo gold buckle.
Cheers.
Hi Peter,
Have you been to Raymond's Quiet Press? He does truly wonderful stuff. On the left side navigation, roughly 1/3 of the way down he has a Sutton Hoo section. https://www.quietpress.com/

A bit pricey, but the quality is fantastic.

Probably the best book available is Sonja Marzinzik's Early Anglo-Saxon Belt Buckles (Late 5th to Early 8th Centuries A.D.) which is available from here: http://www.hadrianbooks.co.uk/search.asp
Free information - but you have to plough through the finds yourself can be found here: http://web.arch.ox.ac.uk/archives/inventorium/siteindex.php
You have to agree to the site conditions before they will let you in -- it's free.
Have fun.

I cannot recommend Quiet Press highly enough. He does excellent work and has a wide selection of items and styles and he is a pleasure to work with. I have bought several bits of kit from him and have no complaints. Some of his stuff looks a little "rough" but guess what, so does the actual burial finds he models after. For the price I don't think he has an equal.

i do believe Raymond can silver or gold plate items now too if you want that buckle plated. he might be away at the big SCA event (Pennsic) so if you don't get a email response you know where he's gone. he's a really good dealer
