Anyone Knows Something About This Rapier?
Could someone tell me where did he take his photograph? the name of the file is paris2 and it's in myArmoury album. I need more informations about this, where is this rapier and what's its date and other details, because I'm studying an Italian sword very similar to this and I need a better photograph to compare.
Thanks all, Elisa

Is it a rapier or a smallsword?
It's a rapier, probably in a Paris museum, I think. Do you konw something about that?
If it really is in Paris, the Musée de l'Armée is a good guess. I don't see it among Manouchehr's images, but the background looks like it could be from that museum. http://www.myArmoury.com/talk/viewtopic.php?t...mp;start=0

I don't know if the Cluny has anything that late.
Dear Sean,
it's in the Musée de l'Armée!!!
I have found a photo took by a tourist with this rapier among others, but it's also on Manouchehr's photo you've indicated: it's behind "A rapier with an enameled handle", IS IT!
Thank you for your indication, you're precious! do you know how I can contact Manouchehr? I need a better photo of this rapier for a comparison and more news about it, if he took a photo at the label too...

Thank you!!!

Elisa

This is the photograph I have found; the rapier is that one in center! [ Download ]
Success! I'm glad it was that easy. You can contact Manouchehr through the "Send PM" (private message) button below any of his posts on this site. If he doesn't respond you should post in this forum a request for help from our French friends. There are many!
See my post on the Musee de l'Armee thread about these being different weapons. I guessed there that this would be ca. 1580-1620. Guess what? The weapon below (Wallace Collection A602) is dated c. 1620. :D It's North Italian, so I think you're getting close to your target! Does yours have a maker's mark?

Here's the Wallace description:

Rapier
Unknown Artist / Maker
Hilt- North Italy, probably; blade- Italy
c. 1620
Steel
Length: 113.4 cm
Width: 2.2 cm
Weight: 1.28 kg
Maker's mark: Oval shield incised with 'FRANCESCHO / GASTIONE' Stamped
A602
European Armoury II

You are fantastic, thank you!!!
I've already written on the forum you've suggest, I'm writing on his private post soon!
thank you!!!
Thank you! I think it's about 1600; it's different from that one you've posted. I have found an other photograph of the Musée des Armées' rapier by Manouchehr.
I think that mine is, probably, from Milan but there aren't maker's markers on it.
This is the only strengh comparison I have found with mine.
