Gregory Peck as Horatio Hornblower
Quotes:From Captain Horatio Hornblower R.N. (1951)
'' Lt. William Bush: It is the captain's wish, Your Ladyship, that from now on you and your maid remain below.
Lady Barbara Wellesley: [to Hornblower] Can two women really be so distracting, Captain?
Capt. Horatio Hornblower, R.N: May I remind you that my men have been continously at sea for eight months?
Lady Barbara Wellesley: [as Hornblower begins to walk away] Oh, Captain!
[He stops and turns to her]
Lady Barbara Wellesley: And how long have you been at sea?
Capt. Horatio Hornblower, R.N: [Hornblower turns to walk away, stops, and clears his throat] Ha-Hmmm!
[He continues to walk away] ''
Greetings all and thanks for such a visually enjoyable sight. HH is my favorite contribution to this subject and Gregory Peck was Horatio himself to me from some of my earliest memories watching the old black and white TV on a saturday afternoon and has stayed with me through all the years of reading and re-reading his books. Even though the movie had some time-period and Hollywood related inherent flaws, I still think Peck did a fine job of protraying the character. The sword is there even if it is not a featured element to the methods and means of the sailor. As for Lady Barbara, well, sometimes the sword is just not very useful. :)
Cheers and salut from Chesapeake Bay
