has anyone any helpful suggestions or knowledge? ive made some for Viking Swords. but not that figurine stuff, which fits a Rapier.

Hi Pascal

Period rapier scabbards have a different construction in most cases to earlier medieval types. I am not sure what you mean by "figurine" but they do some times have elaborate chapes. In most cases the do not have throats or lockets. They will have a bulge or swelling under the covering that will allow the hanger to tighten down and not have the scabbard slide. The shape of the interior is usually a box, not the tight fitting shapes of earlier scabbards. They also will often have the front and back of the scabbard extend up the ricasso to the cross. there are no sides on this section.

There is not a lot of literature on these items and few of the average pieces are displayed in museums or pictured in collections. It can be difficult finding info on them.
