I had some time last week, so I made a translation of Bruchius 1671 Dutch Rapier fencing manual "Grondige Beschryvinge van de Edele ende Ridderlijcke SCHERM- ofte WAPEN-KONSTE".
Currently, this can be found here:

Soon I will make some minor (aesthetic) adjustments, but otherwise this will be it for a while.
Cheers/enjoy!

I have just started going through it. Thanks for making this available! I look forward to any refinements, etc. But this is terrific!

I found out that the definition of Gradueren could be translated just a little better, so I changed that and also immediately made the one word replacement that I wanted to make, so here's a new link:

I made a small correction to the part about Passades. No change in meaning occurred; it is mainly a cosmetic improvement.

I found out I had consistently, in one word, misread one of those f-like s's as an f; this has now been corrected in the document. The main change occurred in the section explaining Passades; other changes for instance in Lessons 46 and 61.

Changed the file as the layout on the final page was strange:

EDIT: Changed it again as while finally making a transcription, I found another instance of the above-mentioned reading error.

Is there a way to get it besides through Google? For some strange reason it won't work too well with my browser...
If you PM me an email address I can send you a copy.
I will send it from my Gmail account though

If it's just that the document does not display properly, you can still try the download link at the top left and get the PDF.
Though I also have strange fonts when reading that with adobe reader, but other readers display it fine. Maybe the reader from Google is confused about the fonts too?
Regards,
Final update in a long time. I promise.
Finished the transcription; the above-mentioned f/s-error does not occur anymore now.

Do you have a link that points to a document containing the "many fine Copper Figures" that Bruchius speaks of in his introduction? I find it much easer to learn with images then with words alone.
Thanks
