Hey, Sam came over, we had some tacos and posted some pictures, here's some swords that have gone out of the shop recently and a bare blade with an etching. A Jian, 5160H with a HAMON, bronze hilt pnarts with etchigs, stabilized spalted maple green dyed, with antiqued leather covered wood core scabbard and bronze chape tip. And some shots I took of Mr Ryan Steward's dagger/short sword, specs and stuff on his thread on SFI. And last but not least this is a one handed version of the "Celtic Wolf" sword from my website. It has hand carved bronze furniture and a woodcore of rosewood with cord and thin leather wrap grip. The blade is made blunt for theatrical sword work and it is made from mar quenched 5160H steel.

Nice work on all of them. The Celtic wolf furniture and the engraving (?) on the short sword appeal to me personally. Was the Jian furniture cast?

Cool stuff John ! I really like the Jian. Is it based on any historical piece or style ?

What is the grip of the Jian? It looks really cool with the green swirls.

John, It seems like you mentioned that the dagger/shortsword was 23". Is that blade length or overall length from tip to pommel? I really like that one!!

There seems to be areas of the grip on the Jian where the green dye didn't "take" : was this effect voluntarily created (by not applying the dye in those areas) to avoid having a grip that looks too uniform in color, or is it just how the wood naturally react ? Anyway, it looks great.
