Gus and I have been working on a new line of swords with upgraded blade finishes, permanent assembly and numerous other improvements over previous Atrim swords. The first of these, the Seneschal, can be seen in this gallery:

That is a very good looking sword, Oakeshott type XIIa? It has a very deep recess in its J pommel, fit for coins, medallions, etc.

Christian, this one has very nice lines to it. I quite like the overall proportions and detail. Will this be a line made in your own shop or is this another prototype for an off-shore line?
Those deep recesses definitely call for something decorative. I've added a photo to the gallery showing a quick test utilizing an off-the-shelf medallion. I'm exploring different possibilities for designing my own for this purpose.
This new line will be produced entirely in Gus' s shop and my own. The blade is all Gus's work, of course, and he also rough machines the guard and pommel based I designs I prototyped for him. From there I finish the hilt furniture by hand, carve and cover the grip, and assemble the sword in my shop. It's a permanent assembly done in much the same fashion as Albion with each component fixed firmly to the tang without the need for a compression assembly.

1. Will the Legend and Maker's Mark lines still be available through you?
2. What is the possibility of customization on these since you will be getting a finished blade and rough finished hilt furniture?
3. Will ordering these be the same as with the other two lines? When you have it in stock you will let us know on the website?

The Legacy and Maker's Mark lines will still be made available for now. Which specific models get continued will depend on customer demand. Essentially, popular models will be made available as long as they are in demand.
The new Prestige line, of which Seneschal is the first, will be customizable. Each will have a standard configuration of hilt, scabbard and belt but these can be changed to customer preference.
These will be made available on an "In Stock" basis and through a waiting list . We won't be taking deposits for them unless customizations need to be scheduled.

That all sounds really good to me Christian. I am wondering what some of the other models that we will see in the future. I do not suppose that a nice meaty XIIIb is in the works for the Prestige line in the not so distant future by chance? Now that would be really cool.

Actually this brings up something I'd like to ask of the forum members. The Prestige line is still being designed. Gus has the first few design models on hand but I'd really like to know what sorts of swords people would like to see made eventually. Suggestions should be limited mostly to western European examples dating from, say, Migration era up to the 15th or 16th centuries. Complex hilted swords are something we're investigating right now. Although I can't promise we'll ever be able to make them workable for a production design, I'd still like to know what people would like to see (and own : ) )

Christian, a XIIa bastard sword. 33-34 inch blade, 51/2 to 7 inch grip, flared octagonal guard, type J pommel. Weight no more than 3lb and ideally a bit less.

If that is the case you have heard my first vote.
XIIIb with at least a blade based on the proportions of this one:
With a blade of say 32", the original is 30-1/2" though with a width of say 2.25" at the guard weighing no more than 3.25 pounds and preferably only 3 pounds. Though I would love to be able to have this blade with different hilt furniture.
My second vote would be for an XIa with a blade that is 34.5", 2" to 2.25" wide at the guard, and weighing between 2.75 and 3 pounds. Type I guard of a truly spiked nature with a nice TYpe A brazil nut pommel.

I was just having the same thought. I'd love to see either types in production. I don't recall ever seeing a XXII at all beyond records let alone in production. I also think the XVII's are under represented. I've always like those although Oakeshott didn't seem very fond of them.
I concur with the XVIIIc request. Why are there none to be had?
The trick is bringing out something new that people will be interested in actually buying. Scott's idea of a XIIIb is a good one. A new XX or XXa design would be welcome.
I'd really like to see souped up versions of the XIVs in the sword store section of your website.
