Sorry if this is redundant but I did repeated searches and did not find any references....
How accurate is the representation of the armour and weapons in the Timeline movie for that time period? I know the fire arrows is weak stuff. Mostly wondering about the swords and the plate/maille combination.
Thanks
Here is a small thread from about 5 years ago - http://www.myArmoury.com/talk/viewtopic.php?t=912 -
The Filmswords division of Albion made some movie-tie-in swords based on weapons from that movie. They looked pretty good, and I'm sure they were functional swords. Unfortunately, the movie tanked, I doubt they sold many swords, and that Film Swords project has sunk with barely a trace.

From the small amount of knowledge that I have and the research that I have done on the time period, (mostly done here) ;) I believe that the movie is fairly accurate in its armour and weapon designs. The costuming is very good in my opinion.
Alle the gauntlets in that movie are wrong. They all are from late XV century, whereas the movie takes place in 1360s if i'm not wrong...
i own the movie and have yet to force myself to watch it.
Much of the armor is fairly correct in its design while some of the rest is complete Hollywood. Where the armor falls apart is in its fine shape and proportion. Consequently it never crosses the bridge between looking like a costume and real armor. Some of the clothing is okay while the rest of i is again, Hollywood. The swords mostly appear to be a mish mash of thrown together Windlass and Del Tin parts.
Overall, Timeline is better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick but not by much.

The movie was good for entertainment value, but not alot of thought went into the coustuming.
One of the things that bothered me the most was that it looked like much of the maille in that movie was some type of textured fabric with a metallic weave, not actual maille. Also had a young Leonidas in it...LOL.

It has been a while since I saw that film, but I have the distinct recollection that the armour was systematically distorted to distinguish the English from the French. As I recall, the English were all put in armour that looked maybe 50 to 75 years earlier than the French - i.e. mail and great helms vs. bascinets and early plate. This kind of distortion shows up regularly in the movies; it seems to be aimed providing different sides with "uniforms" so the audience can more easily tell them apart.
