Hello
In my introduction I wrote about my favorite subject for working - masked helmet ....closer ,face masked helmets.
I wish to show my last work about this subject. It's one of roman parade masks in the type of Kalkriese ...this one is exactly Kalkriese mask .
This mask is made by mixed technique ,because I used modern way (the nose is welded to the face) but also old tachnique ( some parts of the face are raised by hot way and most of the work it's hand repousse work by cold and hot way ). The technology it was the wish the customer.Maybe soon I'll make this mask by raising way similar to this :D :

In this moment it's my first roman parade mask ...but I hope not the last one :)

Now that is an amazing replication of an original!
I congratulate you on completion of this beautiful (and rarely done) work of armor!

Thank You very much :)
A very good job!
That's a great piece of work! You captured the expresion of the original exactly. Drawing a face on paper accurately is a challenge in itself, but raising it in metal in 3D that's a whole new level of difficulty. That takes both a very keen eye for detail, and a great level of craftmanship!
Very nicely done Patryk! That is some truly awesome work. How long diit take to create the mask?

Thank You very much everyone :)
In fact real artist was the craftsman who made oryginal Kalkriese mask ...I made just the copy of this ...I'm not creator but re-creator only :(
this mask it's about 10 days of the wrok in normal work-time at day (about 8 hours...maybe sometims a bit more) ...but it's welded version -
faster for making

Yes great work as it is very difficult to just draw a resemblance and matching one in steel is much harder as was said previously: One can compare it to walking in heavy and deep snow, it's hard to do but walking exactly in someone else's steps is a different and harder challenge. :D
beauty metaphor ,thanx :)
and thanx everyone for such good words
I 've no problems with drowing enything ,because I'm after Academy of Art ...and drawing of face- portrait and all human body was basic thing there
sheet metal it's hard material for working but in my opinion there's no matter what material is used - good sculptor cans work in all kind of material ....there's no matter it's the clay, the stone, the wood or metal ...it's just the medium - idea is in the head ...the rest it's just the practice and the tools
I'm still very fresh craftsmen as armorer ...so there's long, long way ahead me to be really good ...I hope it's possible ...I wish that :)

hello
Few days ago I finished my new mask made by oryginal from Kalkriese. This one is smaller than first one (15x17 cm) and it's ready to use with the helmet - I made the hinge ...it's my version of the hinge ,the soloution similar to others exemples form many masks ...however as independent element rivated to the mask - not continuation of the mask's part.
In my opinion some holes over eye-bows are used for attaching somthing other than hinge construction (maybe some decorate) ... so I dont made it in my reconstruction.
For customer's wish I made steel rands not brass.
Off course some little details I changed by my way (this is MY Kalkriese mask ) ....but I think it doesn't destroy whole expresion of the mask
I hope it's better than my first one Kalkriese mask ... :)
Pictures of new mask are able in my Photofile gallery .

Very nice work and excelent attention to the detail!
Will you cover it, with a silver plate, like the original?
thanx a lot guys :) ....I tryed to make good work...now when I made the mask I see I could change some details  ....but maybe in next realisation of this mask I'll do this
Andreas, I wish do it ...but only by customer's wish ...and he wished steel version of the mask because the price .....steel maske covered by silver plate it's like 2 masks in one ....and covering by one piece silver plate this kind of the shape (human face) is even more difficould process than forging the mask in steel only ....and the price of the silver is also not low ....so the price of whole product 'll be really high ...even if the steel mask 'll be welded not raised in one piece

I’m not sure but I think I remember that the thickness of the Silver was about 0,2mm. Can this not easily by pressed in shape?
try to do it ...and You'll see :)
it's easy if we use many fragments of silver plate ...but it's quite differend case if we use one piece of the silver plate ....and we don't cover some simple spherical form but very inregular shape
