Is there anything covering axes and spears in the "High Middle Ages" (say 1050-1250)?
Covering axes as in sources on how to use them in combat? Or typologies like those two previously linked to?
The only source for axe-work that I know of is "Jeu de la Hache" and it is of a considerably later period (Fifteenth Century) and deals with pollaxes, not axes proper.

The reason Pettersen deals with axes and spears at all (his book was about swords) is that viking age graves usually contained more than one weapon, and the combination of spear/axe/sword/noicemaker types serves to date the grave. (I didn't translate the noicemaker section, though... :P)
There are quite likely newer typologies for both viking and later weapons, but I don't know about them... I'll try to ask my archeologist friends...

Typologies. I already know of La Jeu de la Hache, and I'm aware that there's also some stuff on poleaxe-type weapons in Mair, and I think there might be a couple things in Sutor too.
