What do I have here is a picture of a sword belonging to the father of my uncle's mother. Many years ago my late grandmother's house where this sword was kept burned along with it. Its blade is now rusted while its handle is pitted. My uncle, however, still keeps this sword at his home, which used to be my late grandmother's.
I wonder if someone can identify this sword. I'm sure that this is a British sword still used by many military officers throughout the world during ceremonies today.

Unfortunately, I did not get a positive identification on it but it does seem to be British, 19th century. The guard on yours is very similar only the blade seems to be more slender and possibly hollow ground or with a wide fuller? Also, the pommel on yours is more bulbous and with a button on the end.

I'd love to see pictures of the guard from different angles.

Could you please post some additional pics of the hilt? That would help tremendously in identifying your sword. I agree that it does look British.

At a sword seminar/training class a few years back I saw a blade very much like that. That sword was a competition/training saber from the mid-20th century. The instructor who had that blade (without the guard) said it was found in Solingen's factory rubble after WWII. Your story kind of reminds me of that story and the blades look similar to my eye and memory of the class a few years ago. I'm pretty sure it's a competition/training saber blade though.

At least that's my two cents.

Bryce, this is not a training sword. This is a real sword. Its blade is pointed.
