Please meet my latest creation, an austere Type XVII sword, decorated with Sterling Silver bands on a dark blue leather over wood handle, Black Onyx studded pommel and Lapis Lazuli cabochons on the cross guard, mounted in Sterling Silver bezels.

The specs are as follows:

Blade Length - 40 1/8 in
Grip Length - 10 in
Guard Width - 8 1/2 in
Point of Balance - 4 5/8 in
Center of Percussion - 23 1/2 in from guard
Blade Width - 1 3/4 in
Blade Thickness - 0.260 in
Steel - 5160 spring steel

This sword is hand made by stock removal method and ground to a satin finish. The rigid blade is sharpened and the tip reinforced to track through cuts and thrusts effortlessly with an excellent point control.

The guard and pommel are made of mild steel. The hilt is dismountable and is secured by a specially made barrel nut. The pommel is fitted over the rectangular section of the tang which eliminates any unwanted rotation.

Wow, that is truly impressive. Detailed but simple, what a fantasy sword should look like. I took 4 years of Metalsmithing and jewelry making and I've always wanted to do something like this. Really nice work.

"Austere" is definitely a great word. That sword looks like something one would wear to one of those formal events where everyone is wearing a black suit and tie, if people actually wore swords to those things.

Now I need to wipe the drool from off my desk. Wow, that is stunning.

Oh, your model ships are also very fine looking work and " period " warships I think could be included in historical weapons that should be considered at least distantly ON topic for this site ? ( A new Topic though so as to not derail this topic. ;) ).
