Your guess is as good as mine on this one (probably better). All the rivets(?) make me wonder if these are separate plates on leather foundation, with the decoration led by the construction--black-painted plate edges. Even the helmet? What about the yellow color? Paint? Brass? Gilding seems less likely, given the status of the individual (typically outfitted guard in a German resurrection scene). What do y'all think?

Looks like typical splint construction on the arms. I suspect that the arms are latten strips or decorated iron.

The helmet is simply decorative in my opinion; paint or latten with extra rivets for the look of it.

Could very well be derisive armour in 'old style' of a hundred years earlier. You know, 'the bad guys, eastern style, long time ago' thing.

Looking at unrelated but possibly relevant examples from Japanese armor:

could the helmet and armor have been decorated with built-up lacquer, gesso, or whatever over a plain metal surface, and then painted to match?
