Yesterday was my birthday (46) and I scored this pratically new Windlass Verneuil off Ebay at a grand price. ($169.00 + shp)...rather chuffed indeed...
Had been eyeing this model and by a twist of fate, I spotted this yesterday and jumped on it. After the last few weeks, I've needed a break of good luck.
More when it arrives.......
Cheers,
Bill
Happy Birthday, William. Hope you enjoy your new toy!
Happy Birthday indeed- may you see 46 more!
Any chance you might be up for a mini review once you've had a little time with it? I like the hilt on that one quite a bit - it is one of a handful in the running for my next purchase, if I can screw up the courage to commit...
Cheers,
Eric

Thanks Eric...I'll certainly post more about once in hand....
Cheers,

Just came in the post yesterday eve. Beautiful sword....first impressions.....handles quite well....cuts like a demon...
solid.
2 things a bit bothersome is that they (Windlass) sharpened it the whole length of the blade. Since I bought it second hand...no control over that & the standard Windlass loose fitting scabbard.
I'll get to mess with it more today...hopefully

Bill

I've gotten a reply from Armour Class [20-24 week wait for one identical to yours], and I'm waiting for a reply from Manning Imperial on his 'munitions grade' mortuary. Being local, I'd save quite a bit on shipping with MI, offsetting the higher initial cost somewhat. I'll decide and make an order from one or the other as soon as I hear back from Craig.
Do you know of anybody's experience with the Manning Imperial mortuary? His other work has gotten a lot of good comments here and elsewhere.
Cheers

A few more shots....this is a beautiful, nice handling sword...one of Windlass' finer offerings indeed.

William,
It looks like a very nice sword. I have not seen any MRL stuff recently, perhaps just not big in reenactment here in the UK... or that I just do not get out enough anymore.
Happy Birthday as well! Ho[e you have many more.

This is one i have also found to be very appealing. Im glad to hear such great reveiws, it makes me very interested in getting one. What blade type would you consider it to have? At first I would have said a type XVa, but looking at it I would also consider maybe an XVIIIa.
Happy B-day!

I would consider it a type XVIIIa as well.

I think that is good news, the one I handled for a Kultofathena review was a bit of a lemon in my books, but I guess its not surprising that there is some variation in pieces.
I was a big fan of the looks on this guy, not so much the handling.
Happy Birthday!
Bill,
Sorry I missed wishing you a Happy Birthday, friend! Looks like you did well for yourself. That is one of the nicest Windlass swords I have seen. I am sure you are very pleased with it, as you should be.
Best regards,
Chris

Thanks Chris and it is good to hear from you! Very chuffed indeed with it. Brought it to longsword practice
last week and Will G. was rather impressed too.
