Sorry to bring this back but I have a question about item 38 in these pics (the little bent over thing to the left of the axe). What is it, and what did it do? It looks as though it were intentionally bent, but I still have no idea what that means. :lol:

I got curious about the runes on this one. I can read B EA G N O but the last rune escapes me. That's not, however, what I'm wondering. It's all the other runes. To me it seems as though they are just Anglo-Saxon runes listed. The 'j' is a little vague and the 'eo' seems to be mirrored but other than that they're like having abcdefg... on the blade.

Does the description of the sax in the museum tell anything more about the runes?

That seax has been discussed in deail on the forum a few times including In This Other Topic.

(the museum description does not mention the runes -- these descriptions are very, very sparse)
